Lula Mari
Lula Mari holds a degree from the Escuela Nacional de Bellas Artes Prilidiano Pueyrredón and has studied drawing and painting under Alejandro Boim. She has participated in critiques and workshops on contemporary artistic thought with Diana Aisemberg. In 2019, she showcased her work in the exhibition Una historia de la imaginación en Argentina at the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Buenos Aires, where she presented her acclaimed series Recitales de Pintura (Painting Recitals).
Her work has been selected for numerous prestigious juried shows, including:
XII Premio Nacional de Pintura, Banco Central (Buenos Aires, 2019), 62° Salón Manuel Belgrano (Buenos Aires, 2019), Premio Itaú a las Artes Visuales (Buenos Aires, 2015), 103° Salón Nacional de Dibujo (Buenos Aires, 2014), 100° Salón Nacional de Pintura (Buenos Aires, 2011), Pintores Argentinos Contemporáneos, Espacio de las Américas (Peru, 2011).
Mari has received multiple accolades throughout her career, including second prize at the Gran Premio Pintura, Museo Banco Provincia (2011), an honorable mention in the 2017 edition, and third prize at the 8th Premios Octubre, Centro Cultural Sutherh (2003). Additionally, she was honored with the Emerging Artist Award at the Salón Félix de Amador (2001).
In 2023, she held a major solo exhibition at the Centro Cultural Ricardo Rojas, showcasing over 60 paintings alongside live painting recitals. The previous year, her works were featured in the exhibition La Razón Sensitiva at the Franklin Rawson Museum in San Juan, and in a showcase of Argentine Art and Design organized by the Ministry of Culture at the Argentine Embassy in Paris.
Her solo exhibitions include: Mil Mañanas, Zavaleta Lab (2008), 16 maneras de encontrarse perdido, Modos Gallery (2014), Ojo-Pulmón, Alpha Centaury (2016), Bicho, El más acá Club Cultural (2018) y El despertar de los insectos, Galeria Gachi Prieto (2021).
Since 2010, Lula Mari has continuously exhibited her Recitales de Pintura at various venues in Buenos Aires, including the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo (2019), El más acá (2018), Thelonius Club (2015), Galería Sputnik (2014), the Danish Church of Buenos Aires (2011–2012), and Galería Zavaleta Lab (2010).
